Chicago stunned the Rangers at Madison Square Garden with an early blitz that saw the Blackhawks open up a 4-0 lead by the 9:38 mark of the first period. It was the fastest four goals by an NHL team from the start of a road game since Jan. 8, 2004, when Ottawa scored four times in the first 6:49 of a game at Toronto. Chicago had not tallied four goals that quickly to begin a road game since Feb. 1, 1995 at Edmonton, when they did it in the first 8:31. The last time the Rangers gave up four goals so soon after the opening faceoff was on Nov. 21, 1979 against the original Winnipeg Jets (9:02). |
